Dragon Mountain Tea
| Native | Kai-hua County |
| Appearance | silver green, firmly pressed flat |
| Brew | apricot green, orchid aroma |
The outstanding feature of this tea is its three greens - green in tea, brew, and tea-leaves. Its earliest record can be dated back to 1631, when it was listed tribute to imperial court. After a long period of out-of-cultivation, it was resumed in 1979. Since selected to top teas in 1985, it won 26 times of national and provincial awards.
The tea is a high mountain species. The harvest starts from March to the end of April when tea begin to shoot. The standard picking is one or two tender leaves of a new bud. For its limited supply, a total 6,000 kg annual production, the tribute green tea often falls short of demand in China.
Kai-hua County is located in Chinese green tea golden triangle where three tea-producing provinces meet. Its natural environment - 80% forest-covered land, towering aloft and mist-lingered mountains, scattered rivulets, temperate climate, fertile and unpolluted soil - provides a favorable growing conditions for a good tea.
