Meng Ding, 'the top of Mt. Meng', is an overall name of eight varieties of a local green tea. In these varieties, Honey Dew, or Gan Lu in Chinese, is the highest grade.
  1. Honey Dew
  2. Bird Tongue
  3. Jade Leaf
  4. Mao Feng
  5. Rock Flower
  6. Silver Needle
  7. Spring Eyebrow
  8. Yellow Bud
The harvest starts around the end of March when teas begin to shoot. The standard picking is one young bud leaf. The newly cropped leaves are then palm-rolled 4 or 5 turns in same direction. The rolling will be repeated until they are in shape.

Stretching about ten miles in the hinterland of Sichuan Province, Mt. Meng ('drizzle') is celebrated for its teas. In year of 742, a local tea 'Silver Bud' became a tribute. In 1186, a small tea patch that consists of seven trees was named 'Royal Tea Garden' by the imperial court. At its foot located the building that once housed 'Department of Tea and Horses', a administrative department established in 1074 in charge of the trade with Tibet.
