There are more than 1,000 variety of teas in China, most of them are green tea. These teas, unique flavor, are named by their appearance, geographic location, accepted Chinese pronunciation, or a historic origin.

The map here is a list of well-known teas in China. Pushed themselves to the front through national or provincial regular tea appraisals, these top-notches take about 15% of total Chinese green tea production.

Four other Chinese provinces, bordering the tea-growing climate zone, also produce green tea. Among them, Shanxi and Gansu have a long history of tea-cultivation while others only began their experiment few decades ago. Limited by the cooler temperature, these provinces are considered peripheral green tea producers for their smaller production scale.
