Rain Flower Tea was formulated in 1958 from a small leaf species and named after its growing area Rain Flower Terrace. Won national and provincial awards times again since its birth, this green tea is characterized by its firm, straight, green, and even appearance. To these days, its tea gardens have spread to five neighboring counties for increasing demand of the market. Tea cultivation in Nanjing can be traced back to ancient times. Ancient Chinese tea saint Lu Yu once picked tea at the city's Xi-Xia Temple, and his tiring trips inspired an oft-quoted and widely loved ancient poem.

The harvest starts from the spring. Standard picking is one shoot with one young leaf. The making of this tea is rather meticulous. It would need about 3,000 leaves to produce one ounce of high-grade green tea.

Nanjing, ten-time the capital of China, is a city of 2,400 years of history.
