Hunan

Hunan Province has been one of major tea producing regions in China since 230 BC. Centered around Dongting Lake and three rivers, its tea gardens produce many celebrated teas. However, pounded hard by heated domestic competition in last decades, teas from Hunan is hard to be found on the market today. Ranked the 2nd in 1970s and dropped to the 4th in 1990s, its green tea production is currently only in the 7th place with three quarters of its plantations out of normal operation.
