Started by local Tujia nationality, this tea was a tribute to imperial court from the 8th century. Since awarded gold at International Exposition, France, 1929, it has won many awards in the last century and was selected to top-ten Chinese teas in 1982.
Listed The World Nature and Culture Heritage by UNESCO in 1992, Zhang-jia-jie National Forest is a famous tourist resort for its five beauties - high mountain ridges, odd peaks, crisscross streams, secluded valleys, and marvelous stalactite caverns. Its lush vegetation, plentiful rainfall, moderate climate, unpolluted and selenium-rich soil give this high mountain green tea incomparable characteristic.
