This green tea is a traditional tea variety in Guangxi Province. Its cultivation started from the ninth century, and its production entered its period of great prosperity when it was selected tribute in the seventeenth century. County Annals then recorded that 'Few tea bushes grow on Guanyin Rock of West Mountain and its taste surpasses West Lake Dragon Well.'

Harvested begins in February and ending in November. The standard picking is one shoot with two young leaves. It would need about 3,000 tender leaves for one ounce high grade green tea.

Located in west of the county, West Mountain is a scenic spot as well as a sacred place for Buddhism.
