Tea and Chinese herbal medicine

According to Chinese legend, an ancient emperor Shen Nong was in the habit of tasting herbs to find those with medicinal value and often poisoned himself. But he finally found a plant that could help drain the toxins from his body: tea. Tea has been a part of Chinese herbal medicine since.

Some other herbs in Chinese herbal medicine have some amazing attributes too. In a USDA review of 39 herbs, researchers found that oregano, dill, thyme and rosemary have some of the highest levels of cancer-fighting antioxidants. Other studies suggest that turmeric, sage, clove, and ginger may help fight the killer disease.

What listed here are some common Chinese prescriptions. They are simple, old and trial. In terms of drug action, any green tea works, but the newer the herb, the better the potency.
