Tea and Alzheimer's disease

Alzheimer's disease, the most common seen diagnosis of dementia, is the fourth killer disease in the United States. Both male and female may contract Alzheimer's, female patients are as twice as male patients, though. A recent research led by a group of scientists of Newcastle University, United Kingdom, shows that tea, both green tea and red tea, has the similar effect of medications for Alzheimer's patients.

The study shows that tea inhibits the activities of AChE, a leaven contributing to patient's less secretion of acetylcholine which leads to the decreases of emory power and intelligence. The study also shows that tea slows the activity of BuChE which often found in patient's brain protein deposit. By clinical results, the medical effect of green tea lasted longer than fermented red tea. Meanwhile, green tea may inactivate beta-secretase, another leaven found in Alzheimer's patients.
