Chinese Tea Appraisal

Chinese elect their top teas by the appearance, the color of brew, aroma, and leaves in a cup. The first public appraisal of the quality of different teas took place in 1955 when 28 teas attended. In 1995 Chinese Teacup Competition held by Chinese Tea Association, 675 teas attended. Any tea that fails in farm chemical and heavy metal test will be disqualified from appraisal. The chart below is the criteria of judging Chinese green tea.
